The number of Hamiltonian decompositions of regular graphs

A Hamilton cycle in a graph Γ is a cycle passing through every vertex of Γ. A Hamiltonian decomposition of Γ is a partition of its edge set into disjoint Hamilton cycles. One of the oldest results in graph theory is Walecki’s theorem from the 19th century, showing that a complete graph Kn on an odd number of vertices n has a Hamiltonian decomposition. This result was recently greatly extended by Kühn and Osthus. They proved that every r-regular n-vertex graph Γ with even degree r = cn for some fixed c > 1/2 has a Hamiltonian decomposition, provided n = n(c) is sufficiently large. In this paper we address the natural question of estimating H(Γ), the number of such decompositions of Γ. Our main result is that H(Γ) = r. In particular, the number of Hamiltonian decompositions of Kn is n (1+o(1))n2/2.

Theorem (in any field of Characteristic 2):
In Graph Theory a number of results were devoted to studying the computational complexity of the number modulo 2 of a graph’s edge set decompositions of various kinds, first of all including its Hamiltonian decompositions, as well as the number modulo 2 of, say, Hamiltonian cycles/paths etc. While the problems of finding a Hamiltonian decomposition and Hamiltonian cycle are NP-complete, countin...
متن کاملHamiltonian decompositions of random bipartite regular graphs
We prove a complete hamiltonian decomposition theorem for random bipartite regular graphs, thereby verifying a conjecture of Robinson and Wormald. The main step is to prove contiguity (a kind of asymptotic equivalence) of two probabilistic models of 4-regular bipartite graphs; namely, the uniform model, and the model obtained by taking the union of two independent, uniformly chosen bipartite Ha...
متن کاملGeometric-Arithmetic Index of Hamiltonian Fullerenes
A graph that contains a Hamiltonian cycle is called a Hamiltonian graph. In this paper we compute the first and the second geometric – arithmetic indices of Hamiltonian graphs. Then we apply our results to obtain some bounds for fullerene.

A Hamilton cycle in a directed graph G is a cycle that passes through every vertex of G. A Hamiltonian decomposition of G is a partition of its edge set into disjoint Hamilton cycles. In the late 60s Kelly conjectured that every regular tournament has a Hamilton decomposition. This conjecture was recently settled by Kühn and Osthus [15], who proved more generally that every r-regular n-vertex o...
متن کاملOn cycles in intersection graphs of rings
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with non-zero identity. We describe all $C_3$- and $C_4$-free intersection graph of non-trivial ideals of $R$ as well as $C_n$-free intersection graph when $R$ is a reduced ring. Also, we shall describe all complete, regular and $n$-claw-free intersection graphs. Finally, we shall prove that almost all Artin rings $R$ have Hamiltonian intersection graphs. ...
